The Internet
The internet is a place of freedom,
blogs, videos, chat rooms,
you can be anyone you want to be on the internet
and no one knows,
or cares,
what you do.
The internet is a scary place,
because even if you aren't doing anything wrong,
other people are.
People put videos on,
without any care,
they don't want to know what other people think,
they just want to exercise their freedom.
People go to far on the internet,
with what they say,
pictures they put on,
videos they put on,
things they write.
People need to be more careful,
for all of our sakes.
blogs, videos, chat rooms,
you can be anyone you want to be on the internet
and no one knows,
or cares,
what you do.
The internet is a scary place,
because even if you aren't doing anything wrong,

Assignment #5
The Avalanche
An avalanche is like a gusty fall day,
Hectic but Soothing.
It rushes down the mountain like a leaf dropping to the ground
Swirling around in confusion
Until it reaches the end, where it lays down and becomes disintegrated,
old, forgotten, but changing what and who it has touched.
An avalanche is like an Autumn storm,
sometimes creating destruction,
taking homes, buildings, lives,
but still refreshing everything in its path.
An avalanche is provoked by loudness, craziness, confusion, similair to
a deciduous tree being shaken by a child,
the result being a loud event with temporary evidence and
permanent results.
An avalanche is like a gusty fall day,
Always coming to an end,
But in the process, creating a new beginning.
Assignment #4
Carpe Diem!
Seize the day, if you'd like
There's always a chance to do so
In every event, bad or good,
There's always a way to seize the day
Make the best of everything,
Or at least you may as well try,
There's only one chance you'll ever have
to laugh instead of cry
Live every second to its best,
Every minute to its fullest
And at the end, be glad you can say
You've seized the day in every way

Assignment #3
"Child with a Dove"
Picasso
A little girl cradles a dove in her hands,
Dressed in clothing that suggests her lifestyle
and the time period she lives in,
she looks at this dove with peacefulness
during a time that may not have been that way
Not only happiness is around her, but perhaps
loneliness too as she is by herself
looking at this dove with peacefulness
during a time that may not have been that way
How are we, viewers of these paintings painted
more than a hundred years ago,
supposed to know what is happening in them?
Hints are left - her eyes, her surroundings, her
clothes, her actions, for us to decipher as best we can
as she looks at this dove with peacefulness,
during a time that may not have been that way
Assignment #2
There are many challenges in understanding
The many ways that people express themselves
Poetry is just one
And often difficult to comprehend
So we can only guess
While the author can maybe know
And we can only read,
So they can only show,
And when we read poetry
We need to not judge in our possible misunderstanding
We only need to relate as best we can,
And read on,
To enjoy.

Assignment #1
"I've written some poetry I don't understand myself." - Carl Sandburg (www.brainyquote.com)
I think this quote shows that poetry is often based on just the writer's feelings. No one seems to care if it doesn't make sense, that's what poetry is. It seems that poetry is it's best if the writer has high emotions. That may be what Carl Sandburg means by this quote.
